Be sure to take your vitamins once a day, but having a data loss breach once a day is getting out of hand.

There has been at least one data loss breach per day in 2008. February had two occurrences this month.

February 2, 2008. United States Marine Corps Japan.
4,000 clients of Marine Corps Community Services' New Parent Support Program. The stolen laptop contained names, ranks, social security numbers, dates of birth, children's names and mailing addresses. These were from U.S. military service members, U.S. government employees and Status of Forces Agreement personnel on Okinawa and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.

February 2, 2008. Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island.
Lost computer contained personal information on about 5,000 current and former Catholic school employees.

The last two breaches of January occurred on January 31st.

January 31, 2008. University of Minnesota's Reproductive Medicine Center, Minnesota.
Lost flash drive containing private medical histories of 3,100 patients going back to 1999.

January 31, 2008. Department of Health and Environmental Control, South Carolina.
Names and Social Security numbers of around 400 state health department workers.
